And it is this aesthetic that the core of an important new series within the Seiko Presage collection. In every detail, this new Seiko Presage Sharp Edged series is a contemporary and innovative expression of Japanese art.

Seiko Presage Collection

Sublime mechanical watches from Japan. More than 100 years ago, Seiko produced Japan's first wristwatch, laying the foundation under a now long tradition of great craftsmanship. To this day, Seiko watchmakers share a passion for innovation and craftsmanship in the creation, assembly and inspection of Seiko mechanical watches. Outstanding craftsmanship is the basis for the high standard of Seiko's mechanical Presage watches.

Automatic movement

A mechanical watch automatically recharges itself while being worn by converting the wearer's arm and wrist movements into energy. Movement of the watch causes the watch's main spring to be wound up. This spring is the energy source

Caliber 6R

Seiko Presage mechanical 6R calibers offer a range of functions: from date display to a multi-hand watch with power reserve indicator on the dial. Each Presage watch equipped with the 6R caliber is beautifully finished with a qualitative stripe pattern engraved on the rotor. This luxurious detail is clearly visible through the glass back cover. All 6R calibers are made entirely in-house.

Technology

The foundation under every Presage watch is formed by the valuable legacy of more than a century of watchmaking experience. Illustrated by the extraordinary fact that literally every part of a Presage watch is manufactured in-house! Presage does not stand for "Fine mechanical watchmaking, from Japan" for nothing.

Design

The case and strap of the Seiko Presage Sharp Edged series consist of numerous flat surfaces that meet at sharply defined angles. This ensures that the watch offers a gleaming, literally stunning sight from every angle. In three of the four models (excluding model SPB170) of these new series, the case and strap are finished with super-hard coating to prevent scratching and ensure a long-lasting shine.

Dial

The dial is finished with the Japanese Asanoha or hemp leaf pattern. This pattern was commonly used within Japanese culture during the Heian period - more than a thousand years ago. The fibers from the plant's stem were traditionally used to make fabrics; and the leaf pattern is of particular importance within Japanese culture because it symbolizes rapid, strong growth. The pattern on the dial has a rich texture and complexity of clean geometric lines.
