SEIKO CELEBRATES THE 55TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DIVE WATCH WITH LIMITED EDITIONS!

No water is too deep for Seiko. Exactly 55 years after the introduction of the very first diving watch , the brand is breathing new life into three legendary models from its history. Plus - to complete the party - a reinterpretation of the watch that started the diving adventure in 1965!

The iconic trilogy is true to the original designs, but completely up-to-date when it comes to technology and workmanship. The Japanese watchmakers have really pulled out all the stops to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first diving watch. For example, all three remakes feature remarkable upgrades, including the use of a new generation of stainless steel. This so-called Ever-Brilliant Steel - with a PREN value 1.7 times greater than the steel that high-end watches are typically made of - is exceptionally resistant to corrosion. Not to mention the other specifications.... All in all, an exceptional addition to the Seiko Prospex series!

THE 1965 DIVER'S RECREATION

Seiko's (and also Japan's) first diving watch dates back to 1965, a year when watches with high water resistance were not yet widely available. It featured an automatic mechanical caliber and was waterproof up to 150 meters. Because of its maximum reliability and outstanding legibility (even in harsh conditions), the watch was used by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969. At the same time, recreational diving was growing in popularity, which only further increased attention to the watch. And so this model proved to be a nice first step on the path of continuous development in durable, accurate and safe diving watches. A path that Seiko has now been on for some 55 years.

As for the remake of this classic, equipped with Seiko's 10-beat 8L55 caliber, it offers great functionality. Furthermore, the beautiful 1965 Diver's Recreation is equipped with sapphire crystal, and has a water resistance of 200 meters.

THE 1968 PROFESSIONAL DIVER'S 300M RECREATION

In 1968, Seiko introduced the first high-beat diving watch. With accurate high-beat movement, rotating bezel and screw-down crown, it was this model that laid the real foundation for the further development of Seiko's renowned Divers in 1968.

The latest developments in Seiko's craftsmanship and technology were incorporated into this re-creation. As a result, the original air diving watch has been transformed into a watch that can also be worn for saturation diving. In addition, the 1968 Professional Diver's 300m with its flat case, sleek design and high-quality finish is simply a beautiful watch.

THE 1975 PROFESSIONAL DIVER'S 600M RECREATION

Underlying this watch is a special letter from Hiroshima. The correspondent, a professional diver, wrote to Seiko that no diving watch could withstand the enormous pressure he faced at great depths. Inspired by his story, Seiko engineers went to work. And after years of research and development, in 1975 the world's first dive watch with a titanium case was finally a reality.

The 1975 Professional Diver's 600m Recreation is the cream of the crop. It incorporates all the innovations Seiko added to diving watches in the 1970s, including the double-layer construction with one-piece inner case, the L-shaped gasket for helium resistance and the accordion-style watch strap.

1965 DIVER'S MODERN RE-INTERPRETATION

Last but not least: the modern re-interpretation of Seiko's very first diver's watch! This new version has a slim profile and is made entirely of stainless steel, which makes for optimal wearing comfort. Like the watches in the trilogy, this model is adorned by the blue-gray dial developed especially for the anniversary. The 1965 Diver's Modern Re-interpretation is powered by the 6R35 caliber and counts a power reserve of 70 hours.
